ABOUT US
Our Mission
The CraneLight Group is a specialist grant funding and investment consultancy for organisations that think long term.
We work quietly with a small number of innovative businesses, charities, non‑profits and academic teams to design funding pathways, provide discreet grant writing and grant funding support, advise on investment, and structure corporate funding and sponsorships. Our role is to make your funding ecosystem – grants, investment and partnerships – more coherent, less stressful and more successful over time.
GRANT FUNDING STRATEGY & GRANT WRITING
We go beyond single bids to build a coherent grant funding pathway.
We identify and sequence innovation and research grant opportunities over 12–36 months, aligning competitions with your strategy rather than just the next deadline. We provide specialist grant writing services for businesses, charities and academic teams, led by our funding director and a senior team with assessor‑level insight. Applications are designed, not generated: we build arguments from first principles and then run them through in‑house assessment software refined from real assessment and specialist experience.
Every proposal is interrogated against scheme‑specific criteria before it ever reaches a portal.
Recent client work includes UK academic teams securing three prestigious national grants in a single quarter, and biomedical clients winning EU and UK funding to take innovations into market.
Investment support and strategic funding partnerships
Grants are only one part of the picture. We help you think about the whole funding mix.
We advise on how grants sit alongside equity, debt and other forms of capital, and support clients as they move from EU and UK grant success into US and other investment deals. We help you structure funding rounds and strategic funding partnerships so your grant history, commercial narrative and investor materials work together.
For many clients, we also provide long‑term education for leadership and business groups on how to use grants, contracts and investment in a joined‑up way.
We work as a discreet counterpart to your internal leadership and finance teams, giving you a calm, informed view of your options.
Corporate funding, sponsorship and cross‑sector consortia
For many charities, non‑profits and ecosystem projects, corporate funding and partnerships are as important as traditional grants.
We support charities and non‑profits with charity grant funding support and corporate fundraising, helping them design sponsorship and branding offers that make sense to businesses – aligned with brand, impact and strategy rather than one‑off appeals. We help structure corporate funding packages and partnership approaches that are sustainable for both sides.
We also curate cross‑sector consortia that bring together universities, industry, public sector and third sector expertise, with clear roles, governance and routes to impact.
A significant part of our work is bringing the right people into the room – and leaving out the wrong ones – so projects are both fundable and deliverable.
